Carlton Fields Expands National Mass Tort and Product Liability Practice

Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that two litigators, Sheldon R. Poole and Kyle B. Soch, joined the firm’s national Mass Tort and Product Liability Practice as associates in Hartford and West Palm Beach, respectively. A total of four litigators have joined the practice group since September, including Makana A. Ellis in Hartford and Holly L. Weaver in Miami.

Carlton Fields defends Fortune 100 manufacturers in high-stakes litigation in state and federal courts nationwide. Firm attorneys maintain lead roles in virtually every mass tort portfolio of cases pending in Florida. Examples include talc and opioid mass tort litigation, as well as litigation involving asbestos, tobacco, automotive, and a host of pharmaceutical and medical device mass torts.

Poole has vast experience defending claims against manufacturers of complex commercial machinery and consumer products. Poole has handled complex personal injury and property suits involving alleged catastrophic injuries, including wrongful death and survivorship claims and claims involving environmental contamination. He also served as liaison counsel, along with other Connecticut attorneys, for the Connecticut asbestos defense group, where he acted as lead counsel for depositions and as liaison between the defense group and plaintiffs’ counsel, and courts involved in the Connecticut asbestos docket. Poole earned his J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law and his B.A. from Western Connecticut State University.

Soch was a judicial intern to the Honorable Dave Lee Brannon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He was also an intern at a large Florida hospital system, where he worked on matters involving novel topics in health law. Soch earned his J.D., cum laude, and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Florida. Additionally, Soch served as the university’s chief justice of the student body and was inducted into the UF Hall of Fame.
