Jennifer A. Tschetter Joins Carlton Fields in Tallahassee, Adding Medical Marijuana Regulatory Practice

Tschetter will also serve as co-chair of Carlton Fields’ national Medical Marijuana task force, comprising 18 lawyers throughout the country. Her practice focuses primarily on cannabis law, assisting treatment centers with application, administrative litigation, license sales, and regulatory compliance. She will also contribute to Carlton Fields’ robust health care practice, building on years of experience in health care matters and government-related legal services including negotiations with regulatory agencies, licensing, procurement, rulemaking, litigation, and legislative advocacy.

The expansion of Carlton Fields’ regulatory practice comes during a time of rapid change for Florida’s medical marijuana industry, with the Florida Department of Health (DOH) and state courts frequently issuing new guidance. Tschetter is in a strong position to help clients navigate the regulatory changes after more than a decade of public sector experience, predominantly at the DOH, where she served as general counsel for nearly three years before being named chief of staff. As chief operating officer, she was responsible for more than 16,000 employees at 250 locations and a budget of $2.8 billion. Tschetter started her public service career at the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. She joins Carlton Fields from Hopping Green & Sams in Tallahassee.

Born and raised in South Dakota, Tschetter earned her J.D. with Sterling Honors from the University of South Dakota School of Law. She received her bachelor’s degree in political science from South Dakota State University.
