Carlton Fields Shareholder Raul A. Cuervo Appointed Miami-Dade County Court Judge

Miami, Fla.Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Raul A. Cuervo, a shareholder in the firm’s Miami office, has been appointed as a Miami-Dade County Court Judge. He will replace Judge Renatha S. Francis, who was elevated to a state circuit court judgeship. Cuervo’s term will begin on Nov. 15.
 
As an attorney at Carlton Fields, Cuervo represented banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions in a range of substantive areas, including extensive experience litigating class actions on behalf of financial services institutions nationally. Cuervo practiced law with Carlton Fields since 2014, when the firm merged with Jorden Burt. He practiced with Jorden Burt since 1990.
 
Cuervo earned his law degree in 1985 and his B.A. in 1982, both from the University of Florida, and was an editor of the University of Florida Law Review. He served in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1980. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Cuban American Bar Association, the Dade County Bar Association, and the South Florida Bankruptcy Bar Association.
