Carlton Fields Attorney Yolanda P. Strader Receives Dade County Bar Association’s Woman on the Rise Award

Miami, Fla. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Miami Associate Yolanda P. Strader won the 2017 Woman on the Rise Award from the Dade County Bar Association (DCBA). Strader and four other recipients were honored at the DCBA’s inaugural Women of Distinction Gala in Miami on June 21, 2017.

The DCBA’s Women to Watch/Rising Leader Committee selected five women, whom they believe are “on the rise,” based upon the honorees’ past efforts and achievements, as well as the committee’s belief that these are women who will be notable for years to come, according to Lacey D. Hofmeyer, co-chair of the Women to Watch/Rising Leader Committee.

Strader is a past president of the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association, formerly known as the Black Lawyers of Miami. In that role, she spearheaded a number of initiatives to enhance diversity in the legal profession and to help deserving students in Miami. She is a director on the Board of the Dade County Bar Association and has participated in the Man & Woman of the Year Campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of South Florida.

At Carlton Fields, Strader handles a wide variety of complex business litigation matters, including lender-based matters, consumer finance issues, and disputes alleging fraud, misrepresentation, civil theft, and violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Strader is involved in all aspects of litigation in state and federal courts, including drafting case-dispositive motions, arguing at hearings, serving as trial counsel in bench trials, defending depositions of corporate representatives, and examining witnesses at trial and in deposition.

Strader has received multiple honors, including the National Bar Association’s “40 Under 40 Nation’s Best Advocates” Award, the Daily Business Review’s Rising Stars Award, the 40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers in South Florida by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the 40 Under 40 Black Professionals by Legacy Magazine. She has been selected for inclusion for four consecutive years (2013-2016) by Florida Super Lawyers.

She received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Miami.
