Gene Rossi Quoted in Newsweek: “Aileen Cannon 'Stunning' Refusal of Judge Request to Recuse From Trump Case”

Gene Rossi was quoted in Newsweek, in an article titled “Aileen Cannon 'Stunning' Refusal of Judge Request to Recuse From Trump Case.” The article discusses Judge Aileen Cannon’s refusal to recuse from Donald Trump’s classified documents trial.

Rossi said it is “unheard of” for judges to ask another judge to step back from a case. He noted, there is nothing binding about the advice from those judges but would only help Special Counsel Jack Smith if he were to seek her removal from the case, noting their recommendation was made "before the multitude of decisions that appear to favor President Trump." Rossi added, “It is abundantly clear that Judge [Cannon] has appeared to have lost all sense of objectivity in this matter."
