Health Apps Could Face Big Fines If They Don’t Disclose Privacy Breaches

Carlton Fields privacy attorney Patricia Carreiro was quoted in a MedCity News article about a Federal Trade Commission policy statement that said digital health companies may face large fines if they do not disclose privacy breaches to users. Health apps are subject to the guidance even if they are not covered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
