EU Privacy Shield Ruling Is an Opportunity and Conundrum for Decentralized Tech
Carlton Fields cybersecurity and privacy attorney Steven Blickensderfer was quoted in a CoinDesk article about a recent ruling from the Court of Justice of the European Union striking down the Privacy Shield agreement between the U.S. and the EU. The agreement allowed American companies to self-certify their compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
“The court’s imploring data protection authorities in Europe to no longer sit idly by while illegal transfers of data are taking place,” Blickensderfer told CoinDesk. “The court has called the data protections supervisor to action.”
