Carlton Fields’ Rae Vann Featured in Media on Employer Pay Data

Carlton Fields labor and employment attorney and vice president of the firm’s wholly-owned subsidiary Core Triangle Consulting Rae Vann was featured in Bloomberg Law’s Daily Labor Report and Law360 to provide her opinions on the analysis of employer pay data.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced that an outside agency is analyzing the relevance of employer pay data previously collected through a specific EEO-1 Component 2 survey. The data is broken down by race, sex, and ethnicity.

The data has a contentious history, with companies and the current presidential administration wondering what benefits it would bring.

The decision to examine the data could be a way “to determine whether there is any objectively meaningful utility in the data from a discrimination enforcement perspective—about which the business community has raised serious doubt,” stated Vann.

"It looks like they want to use the results to determine sort of a path forward, what a meaningful future pay data collection might look like," she also advised.
