More Than Minor Changes? Assessing the Latest CCPA Updates
Carlton Fields cybersecurity Shareholder Christina Gagnier was quoted in a Compliance Week article, “More Than Minor Changes? Assessing the Latest CCPA Updates,” regarding the California Attorney General’s recent revisions to the California Consumer Privacy Act’s (CCPA) regulations.
The revised proposed regulations still have some areas that call for additional clarification. Gagnier acknowledges that since “the security provisions of the CCPA are linked to a private right of action,” the continued absence of transparency on what “reasonable security” is and is not is confusing.
However, Gagnier also advises that the revisions better define other aspects of the act, such as the interpretation of personal information and the requirements for responding to consumer requests.
