Florida Legislation and Regulation to Watch in 2018

Carlton Fields Senior Director of Government Consulting Beth A. Vecchioli was quoted in the Law360 article, “Florida Legislation and Regulation to Watch in 2018” about legislative issues and upcoming bills that could dominate the new session of the Florida Legislature, which convenes on January 9, 2018.

In the insurance industry, there are concerns about growing costs for workers’ compensation programs and homeowners’ assignment of their benefits to contractors. “It’s clear that the only way to fix this is a legislative fix,” said Vecchioli. She said that a bill, which insurers like – S.B. 62 — appears stalled, so the industry might prefer to wait until 2019 to seek a comprehensive solution.
